DESCRIPTION:Seminar Overview\nAt this in-person, 3-day introductory training, participants will learn four basic Brainspotting techniques, as well as receive an overview of the:\n\nStandards of care and professional practice for Brainspotting practitioners.\nResearch that supports the primary assumptions of Brainspotting.\nChallenges of research and evidence-based treatment for conditions such as Complex PTSD.\n\n\nThis live training will be facilitated through didactic lectures, PowerPoint presentations, handouts, role-playing, dyad practice, and live demonstrations. Participants will learn to do the following:\n\nDefine the components of Brainspotting\nUtilize the techniques of “Inside window”, “Outside window”, “Gazespotting”, and “Body Resource” Brainspotting.\nDefine how Brainspotting can be applied to trauma, dissociation, sports performance problems, and somatic conditions\nDemonstrate the theories and practices of Brainspotting.\n\nLearning Objectives\nParticipants of this introductory level course will be able to:\n\nSummarize the standards of care and professional practice of the International Brainspotting Association.\nDescribe the hypothesized neurological underpinnings of how brainspotting works.\nSummarize the research that supports the hypothesized way in which eye positions activate and access midbrain activity.\nExplain the uncertainty principle as it relates to brainspotting.\nDescribe the concepts of simultaneous neurobiological and relational attunement.\nExplain the importance of client-therapist attunement during brainspotting.\nExplain how the treatment frame is set and held by the therapist.\nExplain the role of focused mindfulness in brainspotting.\nDiscuss the similarities and differences between the activation and resource models of brainspotting.\nExplain the concept of limbic countertransference.\nDemonstrate a basic mastery of the use of the outside window brainspotting technique.\nDemonstrate a basic mastery of the use of the inside window brainspotting technique.\nDemonstrate a basic mastery of the use of the gaze spot brainspotting technique.\nDemonstrate a basic mastery of the use of the resource model of brainspotting technique.\nAssess the appropriate brainspotting techniques for the treatment of Post-traumatic stress disorder, including the Dissociative Subtype, and other trauma-related symptoms.\nDescribe two challenges to assessing and providing evidence-based treatment to individuals with Complex PTSD.\n\nTrainings are open to all counselors, psychologists, social workers, and others in the healing professions with strong clinical backgrounds, as well as students/interns in the mental health field who seek to expand their knowledge.\nEvaluations and attendance certificates will be emailed within a week of training completion.\nAbout the Trainers\n\nMelanie K. Young, PsyD, is a licensed psychologist, Brainspotting Trainer, and experienced clinician based in Boulder, CO. With a deep commitment to trauma-informed care, Dr. Young has dedicated her career to helping individuals and professionals integrate Brainspotting into their practice. She brings a wealth of knowledge from years of clinical work, training, and consultation, offering engaging, hands-on instruction to therapists worldwide.\nDr. Pie Frey, PsyD, is a pioneering therapist in adopting Brainspotting and is the Senior US and Canadian Trainer. She has assisted Dr. David Grand, the developer of Brainspotting, in many training workshops and Intensive Trainings.  Dr. Frey is a psychotherapist in private practice in Boulder, Colorado. She has trained thousands of BSP therapists throughout the United States and Canada in Phase 1 and Phase 2 since 2009. Dr. Frey has developed a Brainspotting setup for relieving obsessive-compulsive symptoms, currently in use all around the world.\nThere is no conflict of interest or commercial support for this program.\n \nAGENDA\nTraining will open at 8:30 am on the first day.\nTraining runs from 9 am to 5:45 pm each day.\nCancellation Policy\nWe understand situations arise.
